“Coaching is unlocking a person’s potential to maximize their own performance. It is helping them to learn rather than teaching them.”
~Timothy Gallwey
Why Coaches Matter—Even for Coaches
I’ve been a fitness professional for 20 years, and in nearly all of those years, I’ve had a coach or program guiding me. Yes, I’m experienced and educated enough to design my own workouts—but I know the value of having someone step back, see the bigger picture, and point out weaknesses I might not even recognize in myself.
A good coach doesn’t just write workouts—they assess where you are right now and design a safe, effective path forward. That outside perspective is what helps you break through the challenging spaces in your journey.
Left to my own preferences, there are exercises I’d avoid simply because I don’t enjoy them. But sometimes the things we resist are exactly what we need to reach our goals. Having a coach ensures I do the work that matters most—not just the work I like.
Your fitness journey was never meant to be done alone. Find your support system, lean on their guidance, and let them give you the accountability you might be missing.
