New Sunday Routine...

I, like many of you, take Sunday off. I workout 6 days a week and Sunday is a welcome opportunity to rest and accomplish a whole lot of nothing.

Then Monday rolls around…

It takes my body a little longer than normal to get going and I most certainly feel my “lazy day” in my joints.

This year I decided I would add a little bit of mobility into my Sunday routine so my body felt and performed better on Monday.

Now on Sundays, I set my clock for 15 minutes and go through a series of stretches and mobility that are applicable to how my body is feeling in that moment. Sometimes it’s a lot of lower body, sometimes it’s a bunch of upper body and sometimes it’s a combo. There are times when it goes over 15 minutes because if feels so good but I know I don’t have to do more then that if I don’t want to.

By setting my clock, I don’t feel bad when it goes off and I can go back to being restful…a.k.a lazy, but I also know I gave my body some time to move and properly recover.

If you find that your body is a little more cranky on Monday’s pull out your phone and set your clock and start moving. You could even start with 5-10 minutes. Just give your body some time to get the blood flowing through your muscles and joints.

I promise if you commit to doing this on Sunday’s your body will feel a lot better on Monday’s!
