In order to get over a problem it helps to look at it. You can’t climb a mountain that you pretend isn’t here.
~Matt Haig ‘The Comfort Book’
Have you ever buried your head in the sand? Just decided you were not going to look at the problem, let alone address it?
I know I have…plenty of times!
It is much easier in the moment to turn your head the other way, or put a nice cozy blanket over your head then address the problem. The challenge is that problem will likely grow and you will be forced to recon with it at some point regardless of whether you want to or not. The more time that passes the higher the likelihood that problem will only grow and be much more difficult to untangle.
When I decided to get a hold of my finances a number of years ago I had to stare at my problem head on and it was painful. There were lots of phone calls to credit cards, list of things owed, and working more hours then a human should to make up for all the time I put my head in the sand and pretend my mountain didn’t exist.
Only once I took the warm cozy blanket off and admitted to myself there was a mountain…a very, very, very large mountain, could I work on scaling that thing. But I had to be honest that were was even a freaking mountain to begin with.
This is a good time of year to take the blanket off and poke your head around to see what mountains you have been avoiding.
Have your eating habits gone off track and you need to refocus?
Have you overspent and find yourself in a sticky financial situation?
Are your workouts becoming few and far between?
Spending too much time scrolling on your phone?
All those things are fixable but only if you are willing to be honest with yourself about that problem!
I always want to stay in my lane but if I can help in any way don’t hesitate to reach out!
