“If you listen to your body when it whispers, you wont’ have to listen when it screams.”

~Unknown

Last Thursday started just like any other day. Same wake-up time. Same pre-workout meal. Same routine. I felt totally normal — until I got to my workout.

During the very first exercise, I noticed I felt “off.” At first, I brushed it off as just a bad set. But as we moved through the workout, things didn’t improve — they got worse.

Halfway through, I did something I rarely do: I called it. I told my trainer I was done and decided to take a light walk outside to see if I’d feel any better.

If you know me, you know it takes a LOT for me to stop a workout mid-session. But my body was telling me, loud and clear, “We’re done today.”

Of course, part of me wanted to push through — to just grit my teeth and finish. But I’ve been down that road before, and it never ends well. Over the years, one of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is this: listen to your body.

Your body usually knows what it needs:

  • Nagging knee pain? Slow down, do some corrective work, then get back to heavy squats.

  • Hip discomfort while running? Switch to walking until you figure out the cause.

  • Foggy brain? Check your basics — food, water, sleep.

Sometimes the best thing we can do is stop, slow down, or adjust — and that’s okay.

Listen to your body…it’s talking to you!
