Importance of a program...
Many moons ago I used to just walk in the gym and start doing “whatever.” A little bit of weights here and a little bit of cardio there not really understanding what I was doing, why I was doing it or what it meant for my particular body.
As I grew in my exercise journey I got my own personal trainer/coach and I started to understand the importance of guidance and following a program. It’s actually what eventually peaked my interest in becoming a personal trainer back in the day.
Fast forward many years later and even though I am certified trainer and have wrote hundreds, if not thousands of programs, I still have a coach and I still have programming done for me on a weekly basis. I am a big believer in the value of someone providing a path for me to take and the guidance along the way.
I also believe there is a big difference between getting a generic program online vs. getting something to follow from someone who is aware of my strengths, weaknesses and limitations. That attention to my personal details is the make or break of a potential injury, or hitting a PR.
If you already work with me you know the time and attention I spend on a weekly basis putting together what I think will be appropriate for your body and goals. My weekly programming time is probably one of my favorite parts of my week! So if something doesn’t make sense to you or you just want to understand the method to the madness please don’t ever hesitate to ask…just be warned I might geek out on you a little bit 🤓!
If you don’t work with me but you are tired of reinventing the wheel every time you go to the gym click here to request more info on specific programming for you and your goals in person or remotely.
On a total different note part of why I wanted to start this newsletter is to share movement/exercise ideas to add to your personal tool box. So going forward I will be providing a weekly exercise you can try out. If you see something and wonder if it’s something you should try but are unsure just reply to the email. If you like the exercise but feel like you need a modification let me know. We usually can find some way to make it work!
Onward and upward my friends…
