Good Intentions vs Results
Are you reaching your goals?
“Without goals, and plans to reach them, you are like a ship that has set sail with no destination.”
~Fitzhugh Dodson
I have set a lot of goals for myself over the years. The difference between those I have reached and those I didn’t, was the specificity of those goals and the action I applied.
Goal I didn’t reach: Lose weight
Goal I did reach: Lose 10lbs
Goal I didn’t reach: Pay off debt
Goal I did reach: Pay off $5345 credit card
Goal I didn’t reach: Grow my business
Goal I did reach: Get 3 new clients in 6 months
When I had a very specific goal with clear outcomes I wanted to achieve, I was able to determine what actionable items I needed to do to get there. When I was vague, or ambiguous about what I wanted to accomplish I never hit the target because guess what…there was no target!
If you want to change something in your life, your first plan of action is to determine exactly what you want to change and what specifically you want the outcome to be. From there it’s just a matter of determining what actions you need to get there.
Decide what you want this week and get after it. If you need help with the action part of that equation please reach out to me!
